The Razors are...

The Reverend Nick Street : Guitar and vocals

Reverend Street abandoned his fiery brand of TV evangelism for a 'higher calling' in 2005, when he and rabbi Patrick O'Shea formed 'The Razors'.

"I now minister to the most needy in our society, providing succour to young women whose lives have been ruined by this degenerate 'rock and roll' music".

The reverend cites Eddie Cochran, Larry Williams and Little Richard as major influences. Nick's weapon of choice is a Gretsch 'Country Club' "We wanted to achieve a really diverse range of sounds. The Gretsch is worth 3 other guitars in that respect."

Dave McKenzie: Lead vocals

After The Razors original singer was deported, Reverend Street had no hesitation in poaching Dave from a well known Razors tribute band.

Dave recalls "I introduced Jimi to The Razors when he was in London. He got the idea of playing with his teeth from Reverend Street, who would sometimes play using his gran's teeth."

John Mansfield: Drums and vocals

Known as the Wild Man of Rock'n'Roll, John's's influences include Keith Moon, John Bonham and Dave Grohl. Reverend Street discovered John while working as a missionary in Woking - "The natives had raised him as one of their own, of course they instilled him with their own natural sense of rhythm, which he's kept to this day".

Sheriff Ray Carter: Fender Precision bass guitar

A much sought-after bassist, Ray has supported everyone from Marmalade to the Nolan Sisters. His major musical influences: Allen Toussaint, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Mose Alison, and Carl Perkins. Ray joined the band after returning from New Orleans, where he'd been studying the origins of popular music. "The Razors were looking for a stand-up bass player, and Nick happened to see me performing at the 'Comedy Store'. He laughed so much that he came backstage and offered me the job then and there"
